Learn to Love Yourself
Throughout your life, you have likely faced some difficult obstacles and challenges. Depending on the age at which you faced these challenges, and the level of support you received from those around you, you may have been seriously wounded. When our emotional wounds aren’t tended to and cared for properly, they are unable to heal. Sometimes they may form scars, leading to a hardened shield that prevents us from fully connecting in our relationships with others. Other times the wounds stay open and unprotected so that each encounter causes a jolt of pain.
To protect the parts of us that have been wounded, our internal system will respond in a couple of different ways. Initially, it will do what it can to stop the pain. Once the pain is under control, it will then attempt to prevent this pain from ever hurting us again. While these protective behaviors are important for our immediate survival, if our wounds haven’t healed we will continue to experience that same pain over and over throughout our lives. Each time we experience the pain of one of these “exiled” wounded parts it will trigger our “firefighter” coping mechanisms to help us not feel the pain. This is then followed by our “manager” parts becoming even more vigilant in attempting to prevent it from happening again. In the end, we end up feeling isolated, alone, hurt, and misunderstood. Often we are desperate for someone to see how fragile and vulnerable we truly are, while at the same time far too terrified not to put on a strong and happy mask.
Fortunately, we all possess within us the ability to heal. By reconnecting with our true Authentic Self we are able to release the burdens we were handed throughout our lives, heal our wounds, and restore our full emotional power. As an IFS Practitioner, I will help guide you as you reconnect with the power of your Authentic Self, assist you in navigating your internal landscape, and support you in befriending the many different parts of who you are.
You are worthy of living in peace.
